Quality and qualifications

What makes a translator good? A degree in translating or languages is useful, but it doesn’t guarantee an understanding of specific, highly specialised fields. In addition to the outstanding language skills we expect our translators to possess, what really counts for us is expertise in special areas of competence. Many of our translators started out working in an entirely different profession and came to translating at a later point as a result of their unique combination of mature specialist knowledge and language skills. Our language experts are experts in other fields too: lawyers, engineers, physicists, historians, marine biologists, stage directors, physicians, philosophers, computer scientists, journalists, etc., all of whom speak “your” special language and have the skills to ensure that your message is understood by your target audience.
